Calgon-Take Me Away!

This is what's going on lately between Julio (5) and Juan Carlos (almost 3). It starts with Juan Carlos doing something accidentally, like falling, or spilling his cup of water, or running into the wall and then this is what follows:

Julio: chuckles softly to himself
Juan Carlos: It's not funny.
Julio: chuckles NOT so softly
Juan Carlos: IT'S NOT FUNNY.
Julio: belly laughs
Juan Carlos: STOP LAUGHING.
Gabriela: Julio, it's not funny (which is a lie, because you have to admit, sometimes it is funny.)
Julio: Yes it is.
J.C.: NO IT IS NOT. STOP LAUGHING.
Gabriela: Ok, it was funny to you, but now it's over.
Julio: No, it's still funny.
Juan Carlos: IT'S NOT FUNNY.
Gabriela: Ok, it can be funny to you on the inside.
J.C.: IT IS NOT FUNNY ON THE INSIDE.
Julio: laughs
J.C. NO, JULIO! STOP LAUGHING. IT'S FUNNY ON THE INSIDE.

Over and over and over. . .

This post was definitely funny on the outside! I used to do that to Buckly all the time.

OK, I admit, I still do it.

(hanging my head in shame, and laughing on the inside)

Dang! I'd forgotten which of your boys was older, so I had to go back to your initial post to remember. Now I can picture the whole scene clearly.

It is a little funny, but it's also kind of sad. I wonder how old they will have to be before they realize that they are best friends and would rather be with each other than anyone else?

You may doubt this, but I've seen it happen to my own brothers, who used to wrestle like the result of that match determined who lived and who died. Now they live in the same town (by choice) and do everything together.

I think it's going to be a while.

But, we are making some headway in that area. I have to say, when they unite forces, it is a scary thing!

Julio (the bigger one) is obviously well on his way to mastering his teasing skills. Soon he will be able to make Juan Carlos (the little one) scream just by moving his foot a certain way or glancing at him for just a split second so that he can always proclaim his innocence while Juan Carlos is screaming bloody murder. He must take after his mother.

I myself can't stop laughing both outside and inside! Poor J.C., he's such a sweet boy. I salute you for keeping a straight face through the entire repartee.
