Works For Me Wednesday-"Seek and Ye Shall Find"

Want to improve a relationship with someone? Here's my easy tip: everyday, for a couple of weeks or a month, keep a journal wherein you write down one thing about the person that you appreciate or one reason why you love that person.

I have done this little activity with each of my kids and it is amazing how my outlook changes when I am focusing on the good things about that person. When you are searching for the good in someone, you tend to find it.

Works for me!

I love this idea! It's so positive and I think it would be fun to do, too! I'm definitely going to do this one.

Good idea. I need to do this about my mom.

You *always* come up with real good ideas! This is one is so simple, yet, it's so valuable, thanks for sharing that.
I couldn’t join the WFMW, I’ll leave that to the professionals, like you.

Sweet idea! I've heard of thinking positively and praying for someone whom you are having a hard time liking or getting along with, but never heard of doing it with a journal. What a great memento to give to your children someday, too!

Really great idea. When someone annoys you continually, it's really easy to forget why you love them.

So I'll be starting my Tom Cruise journal today.

That is such a fun idea. We just did an early Fathers's Day for DH because we are going to be in TX, and I had all the kids list reasons why they loved their dad. Then, we printed them up and hung them on the wall. He loved reading them.

Does this work with cats?

I love this tip! When I started blogging, I decided that I would try to focus on the positives things in my life and it truly does change one's outlook. Thanks for sharing..
My WFMW is up :-)

What a wonderful thing to do! Sure goes against the popular psychotherapy exercise of writing a nasty letter to someone who made you mad! (Really! I have had two people tell me they had to do this as part of their depression counseling!....somehow your idea sounds just a tad bit better!) Thanks for another great idea!

You know, I was fretting this evening about my relationship with my daughter, and than I read this - I think it's going to be a big blessing for me. Thank you so much for that. What a great idea!

So wonderful! Another idea kind of like that -- for Valentines Day one year I spent some time thinking about all the things I love about my husband. I typed each reason out on a little strip of paper and put them in a jar. It was a blessing for both of us. He took out one a day for several months and put it in a drawer, and when they were all gone he took one out of the drawer each day and put them back in the jar.

Your Wednesday ideas never fail to impress! How many times do our kids get on our nerves and instead of seeing them as the little angels that they are, I sometimes see them as pesky and bratty kids. This will definitely get a frazzled mom back on track.

I can't wait to start one for each of my kids. Imagine them reading it years from now! Thanks for a great idea!

Reminds me of the "child meditation" that every Waldorf-trained teacher must do every night. The old teachers always claim this as the most important part of being a teacher. You are to picture each child in your head and nurture it. Sort of a prayer really. This is what we do when we love people, don't you think?

I have a gratitude journal and it helps me reflect on all I have to be grateful for. However, I love this to help change my outlook on others. It is easy to get caught up in irks and gripes. THIS is my favorite idea this week!

I like this idea a lot. Much more original gift than a generic card.
