A Tender Mercy

First off, thanks to all who have given me ideas to deal with my nausea. I am systematically trying each one. I have gotten sick with each of my pregnancies, but never quite this bad. I don't know if it's that I'm older, or trying to deal with it at 10,600 Ft, or what, but it hasn't been fun for me, or for Guapo, or my kids. Hopefully things will be improving as I have read "morning" sickness peaks for most woman at 9 weeks and I have just past that marker.

Anyway, I loved Elder Bednar's talk in the April 2005 General Conference entitled, "The Tender Mercies of the Lord." He talked about the little experiences that we have that offer us support and love from the Lord during difficult times. Speaking of an experience he had he said,

"Some may count this experience as simply a nice coincidence, but I testify that the tender mercies of the Lord are real and that they do not occur randomly or merely by coincidence. Often, the Lord's timing of His tender mercies helps us to both discern and acknowledge them."
So, yesterday in church, after having had to excuse myself twice during Sunday School to throw up, I was sitting in Relief Society. I was feeling, well, still sick and a little depressed and I am sure looking not so attractive. Sitting two seats away from me was a new mom with her very little baby girl who couldn't have been more than 3 weeks old. It was exactly what I needed to see at that moment: the reason I am going through all of this. I couldn't help but feel excited about the future and grateful for the "tender mercy" I was receiving at that moment.

We are so excited about our new little addition; it has just been kind-of a rough road so far, but I have a feeling things will improve soon (I haven't gotten sick today and it's almost 6:00 pm).

Thanks so much for all of your kind words and support!

Congratulations! Somehow I must have missed your announcement. I'm sorry that you're going through the sickness that accompanies the baby though. Ten weeks ago I felt horrendous, now I feel great-- fat, but great.

When do you head back to Mexico?

I hope that you start feeling better soon. You are right, looking at other babies sure does make it easier to get through the pregnancy.

Just last night Millie (Naddin, etc etc) and I were talking about how little we use scripture references in our blogs.

That's a beautiful post BOFF. Here you were feeling all funky, and the Holy Ghost whispered something beautiful about life.

Hang in there!

I just found your blog and enjoyed reading your entries. Congratulations on your pregnancy and like the others I recommend ginger, eating lightly every two hours or so and resting as much as possible. Take care!!

Glad you are feeling alittle better. Im sure the altitude is NOT helping at all. Just focus on something fun like all those shoes you bought, LOL
Im praying for you. Im excited to follow your journey.

I took 8mg. Four didn't even touch my morning sickness. I had to take it up until the day before I had my youngest. This is why I only have two babies so far and they are spread four years apart. It took me that long to work up the courage to go through it all again.

If you have a hard time taking pills, which I did, have them give you the dissolving kind. There are to ways to take that kind.

Being sick sucks.

You're pregnant huh? I missed that somehow! How exciting for you!

So sorry about the nausea!! I always got nausea, but rarely ever threw up! I can handle the yucky stomach when I know there's a baby coming at the end, but I can't when it's the flu.

I hope you feel better soon!!

Congratulations on the new baby! The only thing that really fixed my morning sickness was time; eating frequently small amounts helped a bit. But, yay! A new baby!

Yay! Congratulations on expecting a new baby! I think we must be very close in our progress. When is your due date? Mine is March 10th.

Sorry to hear about your morning sickness. Mine seems to get worse with each pregnancy. I found that sipping water helps with this one. And you don't have to worry about getting dehydrated so much.

I think the altitude thing really affects you, too. When we were in Utah I kept having to remember to get up v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y so I wouldn't get all fuzzy headed and feel like I was about to pass out. Now that I am home again, I no longer seem to be dealing with that issue as frequently.

I look forward to watching your pregnancy progress!

I LOVED that talk. I think sometimes we get so involved in the here and now, that we forget to watch and listen for all the wonderful ways that the Lord will speak peace to our souls. I'm so glad you had this moment of tenderness. It helps so much to see the positive outcome to our trials. YOU are getting another sweet baby to come and live with you! Congratulations! (for Margarita's sake, I hope it's another girl)

I LOVED this talk. It was one of my favorites.

Nausea was always a part of my pregnancies also. That and just not feeling like anything sounded good enough to eat. Keeping something in my stomach helped as did drinking juice or milkshakes. Anything to get me from getting hungry.

Hang in there. It will pass soon.
