If I lived here all my life, I would never tire of this...

...seeing awesome animals in the wild.

Last week when I was going to lunch with my boys at school, Juan Carlos pointed out this beautiful toucan to me:

He was eating these red berries:

How totally cool is that?

...and on a recent walk to the helicopter pad with Pedro, we ran into this little guy, just hanging around:

My kids are too cool for monkeys now-they thing Guapo and I are weird for wanting to go places just to look for monkeys.

I don't care what they say, monkeys and toucans are way more exciting than squirrels and the occasional robin we see in CO. (I'll admit the raccoons are cool though...and the prairie dogs-I do love the little prairie dogs.)

No way! It's almost like you live in a whole other country.

That's way cool. Toucans and awesome looking monkeys, I had no idea.

My son loved the monkeys he played with on his mission- they were really cute and tiny- isn't it funny how different things are "cool" depending on where you live. I am not much of a fan of prairie dogs- they do too much damage around these parts. I think the toucan is totally cool!

I can imagine how totally amazing it must be to see the Beauties roam free.
I don't think I would ever tire of it :)

That IS cool! The only monkeys I see around here are my kids. :-)
I hope you enjoyed your awesome lunch with your boys. :-)

Bryan still talks about the different birds he saw in Mexico on his mission. It must be incredible to look up and see exotic animals just hanging around. Maybe someday your kids will appreciate it more!!

I know what you mean. We have green parrots around here that are so cool, though not nearly as cool as toucans!

When we lived in MN and J's mom (from Mexico) came to visit she would say, "Look, there's a squirrel!" every time she saw one. She loved those boring old things, so I guess the grass is always greener.

Well I did see a very large mountain lion/cougar in my backyard
at midnight one night Dec. 1 in Boulder,CO. It was frozen looking and me,and I was looking at it about 4 feet away on our upper level. Then it dawned on me that the back of my house was a lot of windows and I hoped it knew that, because I didn't want to be a midnight snack. So I walked calmly into the laundry room and looked out and the mtn. lion was gone. Totally cool but a little unsettling.

I never tire of seeing deer even though they are eyeing my flowers, foxes, racoons and even coyotes but NO monkeys or toucans. My grandkids love to go to a prairie dog area and they are fun to watch, but glad there are none behind my house.

The toucan is at school? Very cool!

Maybe Brazilians would think squirrels and robins are cool. LOL.

Your trips look way fun!
Sorry about your toaster. :( It reminds me of the very first place we lived in Provo after getting married. No oven, no stove, carpeted bedroom (ceiling and walls included) and a family with 5 kids living above us. We bought a toaster oven and a single burner. Seriously, can we go back to that simple life? :)
