Juan Carlos' and Julio's ceiling BEFORE:
And, now, Juan Carlos' and Julio's ceiling AFTER two weeks of annoying men in my house working for 5 to 8 hour days:
Drum Roll,Please...
Ta-Da:
What's sadly missing is a "during" photo that would have shown the ceiling in near perfect condition. Remember how I mentioned that it seemed wrong that they were starting fixing the walls first, before tackling the source of the problem? Well, they worked and worked, removed the old paint and plaster,re-plastered, lovingly sanded it down to smooth perfection and were just about ready to paint the thing and call it done when it all came tumbling down AGAIN.
When Guapo stayed home from work to basically say, "I told you so," their reply was, "Well, we didn't know about that problem"
???
Someday I'll laugh about this right? Just probably not today (at least not without some sort of mood altering drug)...

Oh my heavens. Sidnei said he'd be over there to fix everything in a flash if we lived closer. I showed him the pictures and he said "'o meu deus', "what did they do?"
Sorry friend....maybe its time to find different people?
Unbelievable.
Sounds like they are trying to take as much money from the Americans as they can.
These people aren't paid by the hour, are they? ;-)
But seriously, I can't even believe it. I mean...?!?
Is your contest still on? Looks like they're going to get fired even before they finish!
Wow. I think they must think on a completely different plane when it comes to "doing a job." They must get paid whether they spend 5 hours or 500 hours on a project, so why should they be efficient or quick? 500 hours will pay them more...? It's like the Twilight Zone.
all is well, all is well. just keep humming. this too shall pass.
Your mom told me they working on the walls instead of the ceiling...go figure. Yes, you will laugh about it someday, but what a pain right now.
I still think I'm going to be the winner of this contest (if it's still on).
Hi, Gabriela-- You can volunteer 80 hours a week at the elementary schools, they'll take whatever help they can get! But there are also paid hourly positions: teacher assistants, tutors, + many other titles. I actually interviewed, and am getting paid.
I am so sorry to see the mess that they did.
Just a little question: you didn't pay all the money to them yet, right?
I hope you can get rid of the problem and of the crew soon.
Fabiola
