Works For Me Wednesday-Baking Basket

I love to bake with my kids. I've got very little shelf space in my kitchen and when we put things away, they are seemed to be shoved here and there and then I spend forever looking for stuff the next time. So here's something I started doing last month that has really helped:

I put all my baking stuff like baking soda, salt, baking powder, brown sugar, cocoa, vanilla, etc. in one basket.

It makes clean up a breeze, fits nicely on the shelf, and I can always find just what I need.

Works for me!

Check out Shannon's blog, Rocks in My Dryer for links to other great tips.

I love this tip! I do the same with my spices--makes things much easier to find, since I'm "height-impaired" :)

this is a great idea (have to put it high up though)....as my little guy loves to pull out the spices EVERY morning to cook. I'm like...we're making waffles, we DON'T need pepper!

I too spend precious minutes trying to reach the baking powder at the back of my cabinet. I'll definitely do this. Another excuse to go "plastic container" shopping!

My favorite website these days is www.thecontainerstore.com. I spend hours researching and buying to organize my house with three crazy kids and a husband. Great idea!

This is a great idea, I love baking with the kids but I have the same problem of trying to find things when I need them.

Definitely going to try this one :)

I am addicted to plastic baskets and bins for storage. Thanks for the tip!

I do like anything to do with baskets and stuff.

I use baskets for my spices too.

Your pantry cupboard looks like mine!

FABULOUS idea!! I like to bake with my kids, too, and you don't even wanna know what my kitchen looks like!!

Running out to buy a basket, RIGHT NOW!! :-)

Great tip, even if you have lots of space. It really helps to have all your baking items in one general area!
My WFMW is up :-)

PERFECT idea. First the labeled boxes, now this - you are awesome. I think I'm gonna go find me a basket right now. :)

What a great idea! And it's so much easier than hauling out a few items at a time!

Putting it all back in the cabinet again has to be easier this way. I love this idea!

Chocolate Abuelita! YUM

BOFF, you have really good ideas!, I love your WFMWs.
You know, great minds do think alike, I also keep my baking stuff in a basket (other baskets: oils, school snacks, kids' meds, adult meds).

I love the new front pic, is that a close-up of the Calakmul pyramid?

My littlest one loves to cook with me. In fact, we are just gettin ready to make cookies. I love your idea, sounds like it makes things go much smoother.

BOFF- I strategicly placed the Abuelita just to see you you would notice!! Bravo, my friend.

The new pic is of a pyramid at Uxmal.

BOFF, of course I noticed, I live for chocolate!

I want to go there, to the pyramids; it's so fun climbing on those narrow steps, and getting dizzy when you get to the top.

Wow! So simple, yet so ingenious! I guess it's back to the dollar store for me.

I live for the day when I can actually post something "worky" for WFMW. You are an inspiration!

After all the Abuelita discussions, I found it at Wal-Mart but wasn't brave enough to buy it. It involved using my blender and I was, well, frightened.

We use empty diaper boxes but it does the same thing. Good tip!

That's a fantastic tip. I should really do that. I'm such a procrastinator though, that I'll probably see the same tip in two months and go "wow, I should really do that!".

Fun tip. I need to get one of the those baskets.

I love your new backdrop. Such fun climbing all of those tiny stairs!

Thanks for your comment of concern! I'm still here just slacking a bit lately.

I tagged you to play the se7en meme. You're one of the few people I know! :) To play or not play, that is your option.....
